Backpacking, Hiking, Canoeing & Camping
Every summer we decide on a challenging outdoor trip. Whether it be backpacking, or canoeing/portaging. My first trip of this kind was to Algonquin when I was 3 years old. Even then I carried my own backpack (It was a lot smaller then). It was a canoeing/backpacking trip.
Some of the other places we have gone to are: Cape Scott & The North Coast Trail for 6 days in 2021, we summeted Mt. Albert Edward in 2019 on a 4 day trip, and the Sayward canoe route twice, each time for 6 days. In addition to these longer challenging trips, we often go on local family hikes.
Takeaway
These trips taught me resilience. We do 20-25km days, with heavy backpacks on. So many times, we’d just want to stop, but we had to keep pushing through, with blisters, tired, hungry. No matter how we felt, we just had to persevere through it.
